JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMUNITY MINISTRIES We work in partnership with Jefferson County Community Ministries, Inc. (JCCM) – a cooperative ministry of local churches to assist people in need. JCCM can provide assistance with food, clothing, and limited financial aid aimed toward meeting essential expenses including rent, utilities, medicine, heating fuel, and gasoline. Assistance is provided by referring those persons who qualify to appropriate agencies, providing resources donated or purchased for this purpose such as food and clothing, and through arrangements with local vendors who accept checks or credit vouchers. We invite you to bring nonperishable food items and toiletries whenever you visit, and we will deliver them to the food pantry. Monetary donations are also generously accepted for this important ministry to the community.
NURTURE AND CARE MINISTRY: We extend the love of God through visitation and support to those who are homebound or sick. Alvin Mills is the coordinator of this important ministry and he is always seeking volunteers to assist him. Training is provided for all volunteers. If you need someone to talk to or would like to receive a visit, please contact Alvin at 304.725.4633
LAYETTES FOR BABIES We provide layettes through Church World Service in New Windsor, MD. Supplies are always needed for the baby layette program. Items needed to complete one layette are: two gowns, two “onesies” or undershirts, two receiving blankets, one bar of soap, two pins, TWO washcloths, four diapers and a sweater or jacket size 24 mo or younger. The coordinator of this ministry is Irene Seal, and she welcomes any and all contributions or assistance in putting the layettes together and delivering them to the warehouse. She can also use old bedding, T-Shirts, material, overalls etc to use for the quilts. For more information, please contact Ms. Seal at 304-725-5736.
ALUMINUM CAN DRIVE Please remember to save your cans! We recycle them for money that goes toward the purchase of items needed for layettes. You can drop off the cans at any time at the church.
ALTAR FLOWERS There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex with LOTS of opportunities to provide flowers for a variety of occasions. You may want to remember a loved one that has passed away, a special someone’s birthday, an anniversary, a birth of a new son or daughter or grandchildren, OR, just because you want to celebrate the life that God has blessed us with! Altar flowers can be dedicated to everyone in the congregation as a way to make things brighter. If someone else has already signed up for a Sunday you want---Feel free to add additional flowers to brighten everyone’s day!
